The Cavern has been introducing overseas and
South African visitors to the joys of mountain holidays for six decades.
The Cavern, named after the “Cannibal Cavern”, is situated on 3000
hectares of private mountain reserve adjacent to the Amphitheatre World
Heritage Site in the Northern Drakensberg of KwaZulu Natal.
This stunning
resort has won numerous accolades and awards. Honeymoon Suites, Superior
Suites and standard accommodation are available with spectacular views
of the surrounding valleys, indigenous forests and mountains. Honeymoon

tranquil gardens, with magnificent views of the surrounding mountains.
The unique Cave Bar is the ideal place to meet for a sun-downer looking
over the valleys below.
The
accommodation and sports amenities are terraced around the main
complex, giving the resort a commanding view down the valley.
The thatch accommodation blends beautifully with the massive
sandstone cliffs, indigenous forest and cool mountain streams.
The Cavern is home to numerous Bushman paintings, 214 species of
birds, 150 species of trees and numerous wild animals. The
resort offers daily hikes to bushman paintings and rock
carvings. For the more energetic, walks are organised to the
Tugela Gorge and to the top of the Amphitheatre. An extensive
range of recreational facilities, from guided walks to horse
rides, jeep trips to trout fishing and mountain bike trails are
